Transforming Engagement: PoundFun’s Remarkable Growth Journey with Lipscore

When you’re a growing, ambitious brand one of the most difficult things to do is to start making your name in the market. 

With plenty of investment and a dedication to succeed you will always find a way to build a successful brand, but we all have our own journeys that get us to where we want to be, PoundFun included.

The UK toy store was already starting to build a great reputation in the market and a strong social media following, but as everyone knows it’s important to keep growing to keep succeeding and it was a move to Lipscore that coincided with the PoundFun taking their next leap forward.

The objectives: to increase brand awareness and conversions

Social proof and trust signals mean a lot to customers and brands alike and PoundFun are no different in that respect. Potential customers look at product and service reviews keenly before committing to a purchase and this was where the brand knew they had to make improvements. 

Co-Founder and Marketing Director at PoundFun, Rob Owlett, described the challenge that the West Yorkshire-based retailer had: “As a new brand, we were using a combination of free platforms to collect reviews. These included Google My Business, TrustPilot and Facebook recommendations; but we also had a free Shopify app which wasn’t working at all. We could only send 50 requests a month and would get around a 2% response rate.”

That was what prompted a change in approach, and a switch to Lipscore. 

The process: fast, simple implementation

With the help of Lipscore’s onboarding and development teams, PoundFun were able to transfer all of their existing reviews to the Lipscore platform and start acquiring new product and service reviews in a matter of weeks. 

All new Lipscore customers have the ability to implement the platform themselves for free, or by requesting the services of our development team to ensure that everything is perfectly built if there is any doubt at all. 

Thanks to this simple and effective process, PoundFun were able to utilise a number of innovative features including widgets and review blocks not only on product pages but across the website in order to increase conversions and even their average order value.

The results: smashing expectations and “crazy” success rates

So what were the results? Well, having only received a 2% response rate through their previous efforts, PoundFun openly admitted that Lipscore’s market-leading response rate of above 20% did seem like “a very optimistic target” but having reviewed the Lipscore case studies before joining, the proof of concept was certainly there. 

“If we have achieved only 50% of that target, we would have been happy,” Rob said. However, we are currently achieving a crazy success rate of above 26% across both service and product reviews!”

This is an incredible response rate and the brand continues to gather new reviews which lead to increased brand trust, social proof across the website and greater conversions. 

Rob finished by saying “As a brand with super spikey sales, we often need to delay or extend the sends for reviews in line with peak sales periods. The ability to do this at the click of a button is my favourite feature.”
