From its inception, Lipscore has been committed to preventing fake reviews. Real Reviews™ by Lipscore has always been a cornerstone of our identity. Lipscore only allows reviews from verified buyers. This ensures that every review is 100% genuine, written by real customers in their own words, and verified for authenticity.
We believe that honest feedback fosters better customer experiences, superior companies, and exceptional employees — regardless of whether the reviews are positive or negative. Below, you’ll find details on what this means and what we expect from our customers.
Each website that integrates Lipscore’s platform for ratings and reviews has its own setup, but the verification process generally follows these steps:
1. Purchase verified
The customer purchases a product or service in an online or physical store.
2. Invitation sent
A few days later, the customer receives an email or SMS asking for feedback. They can click directly on 1–5 stars in the message (a “rating”).
3. One-tap rating + token login
When the customer selects a rating, they are logged in through a secure, token-based login. The rating is saved and published immediately. While ratings appear anonymously, both the seller and Lipscore know the identity of the rater.
4. Optional written review
The customer is redirected to the store to write a comment (a “review”), which is optional. This two-step process explains why Lipscore users typically collect more ratings than written reviews.
5. Name and verification
Reviews are published under the customer’s real name (e.g., “Jane Doe”) or first name + initial (e.g., “Jane D.”). The name must match the purchase record and cannot be changed.
6. Verified Buyer badge
A “Verified Buyer” badge appears next to all reviews collected post-purchase, confirming their authenticity.
Lipscore prevents fraud, spam, and fake reviews by only allowing feedback from verified buyers.
Employees, suppliers, and partners are prohibited from writing reviews, even if they made a purchase. This policy protects the credibility of the review system.
Retailers using Lipscore must follow our terms and conditions, which state that reviews may not be moderated or deleted except in cases of inappropriate language. When inappropriate language is detected, the customer must be notified and asked to update their review.
For product reviews, the focus should be on the product’s quality and performance. Delivery delays, customer service issues, and similar topics are generally not considered relevant in this context. In such cases, the review can be recategorized as a service review, focusing on delivery time, customer service, or pricing instead.
Reviews are usually published immediately, but a short delay can be configured in Lipscore’s system to allow for screening for inappropriate language before publication.
No filters or algorithms may be used to downplay or hide negative reviews.
Storage of Customer Data
Lipscore is a Norwegian company that adheres to privacy laws in all countries where we operate. Our data servers are located in Ireland and Norway. We follow guidelines for secure data storage as advised by the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.

Offering money, gift cards, discounts, or other benefits in exchange for positive reviews is strictly prohibited. If a customer updates a negative review after an issue is resolved, they should never be pressured or incentivized to do so.

When Lipscore processes customer data, it happens on two levels:
1. End customers
Customers own their data and may request access or deletion at any time, in compliance with the Personal Data Act.
2. Retail chains and online stores
Retailers own the data they collect and may export it at any time, including if they discontinue their relationship with Lipscore.
All transitions and exports must be performed securely and responsibly, as outlined in our data processing agreement.
