Instant Reviews Feature

Instant Reviews allows customers to leave ratings and reviews directly from your webshop’s My Orders page, without waiting for an invitation email or logging in to a separate review platform.

By enabling Instant Reviews, customers can review products while they are already logged in and viewing their purchase history, creating a seamless review experience and increasing review conversion rates.

How Instant Reviews Works

After a customer places an order, your webshop sends order information to Lipscore through the Invitation Creation API. When the customer later visits their My Orders page, a review widget is displayed next to verified purchased products.

The customer can click the rating stars or text in the widget to open the Lipscore review popup and immediately leave or update a rating and review.

Customer Journey

1. The customer logs in to the webshop.
2. The customer navigates to the My Orders page.
3. A review widget appears next to purchased products.
4. The customer clicks the rating stars or text in the widget.
5. The Lipscore review popup opens instantly.
6. The customer submits or updates their rating and review.
7. The review is stored in Lipscore.

The review popup only displays the selected product, not the entire purchase.

Verification and Security

Instant Reviews only allows reviews for verified purchases.

When the review widget loads, Lipscore verifies that:

• The product belongs to the specified order.
• The order belongs to the logged-in customer.
• The purchase data matches the information stored in Lipscore.

This verification is performed using:

• internal_customer_id
• internal_order_id

If verification succeeds, the customer can review the product. If verification fails, the review widget is not displayed.

Widget States

The review widget automatically adapts based on the customer’s review status for each product:

• If the customer has not yet submitted a rating or review, the widget displays empty grey stars, indicating that the product is available for review.
• If the customer has already submitted a rating or review, the widget displays the existing rating together with the text “Update rating and review”. When clicked, the review popup opens so the customer can update their existing rating and review.
• If the product cannot be linked to a verified purchase for the logged-in customer, the review widget is not displayed. This ensures that only verified purchased products can be reviewed through Instant Reviews.

Detailed Flow

The Instant Reviews widget works by connecting the customer’s order information in your webshop with the purchase data stored in Lipscore.

1. An invitation is created in Lipscore

When a customer completes a purchase, your webshop creates an invitation through the Lipscore Invitation Creation API. To enable purchase verification, the invitation must include:

• internal_customer_id
• internal_order_id

2. The customer visits the My Orders page

When the customer logs in to your webshop and opens their order history, the Instant Reviews widget can be displayed next to products from their purchase.

3. Lipscore verifies the purchase

Using the internal_customer_id and internal_order_id provided in the invitation, Lipscore verifies that:

• The product belongs to the order.
• The order belongs to the logged-in customer.

Only verified purchased products can be reviewed through the widget.

4. The widget displays the current review status

Before displaying the widget, Lipscore checks whether a review already exists for the product.

Depending on the result:

• Empty stars are displayed if no review exists.
• An existing rating is displayed if the product has already been reviewed.
• The widget is hidden if the purchase cannot be verified.

5. The customer leaves or updates a review

When the customer clicks the widget or rating stars, the standard Lipscore review popup opens.

The customer can:

• Submit a product rating.
• Write a review.
• Update an existing rating or review.

6. Pending invitations are automatically cancelled

If the customer submits a review through the Instant Reviews widget before a scheduled review invitation email has been sent, Lipscore automatically cancels the invitation to avoid sending an unnecessary review request.

Invitation Cancellation

If a customer submits a rating and review through Instant Reviews before a scheduled review invitation email is sent, Lipscore automatically cancels the pending invitation.

This prevents customers from receiving unnecessary review invitation emails after they have already completed their review.

Requirements

To use Instant Reviews, an invitation must first be created in Lipscore. The invitation is required to verify the purchase and securely connect the review widget to the correct customer and order.

The following fields must be included both when creating the invitation and when loading the Instant Reviews widget:

• internal_customer_id
• internal_order_id

Data Retention

To comply with GDPR requirements, purchase data is disconnected from the customer after six months.

As a result, the Instant Reviews widget is only available for purchases made within the last six months.
