Importing reviews from previous provider

Some customers start their adventure with customer ratings and reviews with Lipscore. Others have been on a journey with a different provider and decided to switch to Lipscore – but do not want to lose their previously collected reviews.

It is possible to import your past reviews to Lipscore, however, a very specific file and data structure is required for the import not to fail. Please follow the instructions below when creating the import file.

PRODUCT reviews import

As the name suggests, product reviews are reviews about the quality, looks, usability and other details of your proudcts. Product reveiws are displayed in widgets on product pages.

Obligatory columns for Product reviews import
  • LipscoreSiteID: Member Site number identifying the customer in the Lipscore system. Can be found in Settings > General > Lipscore site ID
  • DateOfReview: Date in yyyy-mm-dd format
  • NameOfReviewer: Reviewer’s first and last name
  • EmailOfReviewer: Reviewer’s email address
  • ProductID: ProductID can be anything, both numbers and letters. What matters is that ProductID in the file must be exactly the same as the one used in Lipscore integration. Otherwise, reviews will not show under relevant products. To check if the ProductID is the same as one used in the Lipscore integration: Go to a product page > right-click > Inspect > ctrl+f > ls-product-id. If the ID you want to use matches the ls-product-id, it is correct.
  • ProductName: Name of the reviewed product. The name also needs to be exactly the same as the one used in Lipscore integration. Most often this is the “parent product name” without variants details (color, size, etc). To check if the ProductName is the same as one used in the Lipscore integration: Go to a product page > right-click > Inspect > ctrl+f > ls-product-name. If the name you want to use matches the ls-product-name, it is correct.
  • RatingScore: The number of stars left for service.
  • ReviewText: Review left by reviewer. Note: unless you replace text emojis (like ) with graphic emojis (👍), they will keep the text format in the imported and displayed reviews.
  • Optionally: PublicReply:Public reply to a review left by the webshop.
Note: adding this column will make the import take up to 7 days longer.

File correctness checklist

  • Check if the top row displays column names in the correct order and if all data follows the same order.
  • Check if all special characters are correctly displayed and correct them if necessary (eg. the & sign sometimes figures as & or the can figure as " which can make the import fail. Also, language specific characters do not always display correctly in the exported files).
  • Check if all reviews have an email address. If not, please insert various fake email addresses. DO NOT use the same fake address for all rows, as the system will interpret them as reviews from the same shopper. Import will fail if email addresses are missing.
  • Check if all data is correct and in the required format (eg. date)
  • Check if the file coding is UTF-8

If all the requirements above are met, save the file and send it to support@lipscore.com with a request for import.

Note: In 99% of the cases, other platforms for shoppers’ feedback grant the ownership of reviews to webshop, which means that the webshop owner can freely export the reviews and import them into other platforms. However, if you are in doubt regarding the ownership, contact your previous provider to get a written confirmation that you can use the reviews elsewhere.
