AI Summary Feature
AI Summary helps shoppers quickly understand customer feedback by using artificial intelligence to analyze ratings and reviews and generate a concise overview of the most frequently mentioned themes and overall customer sentiment.
The feature supports both Product Reviews and Service Reviews, making it easier for visitors to gain insights without reading every individual review.
How AI Summary Works
AI Summary is automatically generated based on published customer ratings and reviews.
During summary generation:
- Only published ratings and reviews are included.
- If Review Syndication is enabled, syndicated ratings and reviews from other Lipscore accounts are included in the AI Summary.
- The AI Summary is generated in the default site language of your Lipscore account.
- Frequently recurring positive and negative themes are highlighted.
- The summary is designed to remain neutral, balanced, and unbiased.
- To optimize performance and processing efficiency, up to the 200 most recent reviews may be included in the analysis.
Summary Generation
A product or service becomes eligible for AI Summary generation once it has at least 10 published reviews. This minimum threshold helps ensure that the summary is based on a meaningful sample of customer feedback.
Eligible products and services are picked up by Lipscore’s scheduled generation process (Automatic Summary Update).
Generated summaries contain:
- Minimum length: 75 characters
- Maximum length: 360 characters
Automatic Summary Updates
AI Summaries are automatically regenerated every 30 days.
A scheduled process runs daily and regenerates summaries that have reached the 30-day refresh interval and generate new summaries for products who have reached the minimum threshold of 10 reviews. This ensures summaries continue to reflect the latest customer feedback.
Manual Summary Regeneration
Merchants can manually regenerate all AI Summaries for their site.
This option is available once every 30 days and can be useful in situations such as:
- Product merges that combine review histories
- Significant changes to review data
- Cases where merchants want updated summaries before the next automatic refresh
When manual regeneration is triggered, all eligible summaries are regenerated using the latest available review data.
Review Syndication Support
When Review Syndication is enabled, syndicated ratings and reviews are included in AI Summary generation.
The summary itself is not syndicated between sites. Instead, an AI Summary is generated separately for each site based on the reviews available on that site.
As a result:
- AI Summaries may differ between syndicated product pages on different websites.
- Even when the underlying review data is identical, the AI may generate different wording because summaries are created independently each time.
Whenever syndication is enabled or disabled, affected summaries are automatically regenerated to ensure they reflect the correct review dataset.
Multi-Language Support
AI Summaries are initially generated in the default site language configured for your Lipscore account.
If your account includes Lipscore’s translation functionality:
- Summaries can be translated into any enabled site language.
- Existing summaries are automatically translated when new site languages are added.
- Customers receive a consistent experience across all supported markets.
If translation functionality is not enabled, summaries are displayed only in the default site language.
AI Summary Settings
Merchants can control AI Summary through the AI Summary settings section.
Generate AI Summaries
When generation is started, this process may take several hours to complete. AI Summaries will be available once generation is completed.
After the initial generation is complete, the Generate option is replaced with a regeneration option.
Regenerate All Summaries
Merchants can manually regenerate all AI Summaries.
- Regeneration is available once every 30 days.
- The regeneration button is disabled when regeneraton is not available.
Additional Display Controls
Merchants can enable or disable individual elements within AI Summary widgets, including:
- Heading
- Highlights
- Average rating and star rating display

Lipscore provides several widget options that allow merchants to display AI-generated insights throughout the customer journey.
All AI Summary widgets require:
- AI Summary feature enabled
- Summary generation enabled
- Minimum 10 published reviews required
- Only published ratings and reviews are included
Product AI Summary Widget
The Product AI Summary Widget is designed for Product Detail Pages (PDPs) and provides shoppers with a quick overview of customer feedback for a specific product.
